Divine
love in and through me, blesses and multiplies the awareness of all the
good that I have, all the good that I give, and all the good that I receive.
This is an affirmation
we use in Unity when we give. We believe that when we establish ourselves
in the consciousness of God, the whole universe moves to flow into us with
its abundance of life and substance.
Here are some
popular approaches to prosperity within Unity. First is a view from Spiritual
Economics by Eric Butterworth, second is the 4-T Prosperity program by
Stretton Smith, and third are some affirmations by Catherine Ponder.
Prosperity
Thoughts--excerpts from Spiritual Economics by Eric Butterworth
The word prosperity
comes from the Latin root which literally translates "to go forward hopefully."
Thus it is not so much a condition in life as it is an attitude toward
life. The truly prosperous person is one who is experiencing what Jesus
referred to as the life more abundant.
The starting
point in realizing prosperity is to accept responsibility for your own
thoughts, thus taking charge of your life. You are not responsible for
what is said in the Wall Street Journal, or what comes out of Washington
in the form of economic indictors, but you are very much responsible for
what you think about these things. You cannot afford to let the so-called
experts decide how you are going to think and feel, for how you think and
feel about the economy in general and your financial affairs in particular
will invariably determine what you experience.
Make a commitment
to get yourself and keep yourself in the positive stream of life. Refuse
to indulge in causal conversation about the bad economy, the high cost
of living, or about anything you really do not want to say yes to. Eliminate
such thoughts as "I can't," "I'm afraid," and "There is not enough" from
your consciousness. Talk only about the things you want to see live and
grow. Keep your thoughts centered in the ideas of abundance, self-sufficiency,
and well-being. And occasionally give yourself a consciousness boost by
affirming something like: God is my instant, constant, and abundant
source of supply.
In a regular
meditation practice, work on the realization that you are surrounded by
a divine presence which wishes for you only good because you are expressing
its life. The exciting Truth is that God will make you prosperous and successful
in all your ways if you do not make it too hard for God. Infinite Mind
will put ideas into your mind, words into your mouth, creativity into your
hands, boundless opportunity before you, and guiding light on your way.
All that is
required is that you keep yourself centered in the creative flow, keep
in tune through positive thoughts, keep responsive by your faith, and as
Thoreau would say, "keep moving in the directions of your dreams." (Butterworth,
Eric. 1983. Spiritual Economics. Unity School of Christianity. Available
in the Unity CR bookstore.)
4-T
Prosperity Program
Unity CR from
time to time offers the 4-T Prosperity Program. This program, developed
by Unity minister Stretton Smith, offers a refreshing vision of prosperity.
The premise on which the program is based is that we are addicted to old
thoughts and behaviors that block our prosperity. Through the understanding
and practice of spiritual principles we can change and experience abundance.
The four Ts stand for Tithing of Time, Talent and Treasure. Using Smithıs
words: "As we fulfill the Law of Giving, that is giving 1/10th out of love
and joy of giving, our faith immediately becomes strengthened, and doubt
disappears and fear disappears. We do not prosper 100-fold because we tithed.
We prosper 100-fold because our faith increased 100-fold, our consciousness
increased 100-fold, as a result of tithing. ... Tithing simply establishes
a regular method of giving. It is a self-imposed discipline, and it is
the beginning development of a consciousness centered in God."
What tithing
does:
-
It reminds you
of your Source
-
It is a consistent,
methodical way of practicing good stewardship
-
It opens new channels
of supply
-
It strengthens
your faith
-
It shapes consciousness
as nothing else does
Some of the
personal benefits to tithing:
-
What you have goes
further and lasts longer
-
90% with God goes
further than 100% without God
-
You start a flow
of good back to yourself
-
New opportunities
come into your life
-
You feel good about
yourself because giving feels good
-
Your tithe is a
means to empower others
-
You secure the
future of those organizations that spiritually feed you
Catherine
Ponder on prosperity
Catherine Ponder
is a well-known author of over fourteen metaphysical books. Some of her
best work involves prosperity and the power behind affirmations. She speaks
to manifesting life the way you want it to be and claiming the power of
your life, in words. Her books are available in the Unity CR bookstore.
Here are a few
affirmations from Ponder's book Open Your Mind To Prosperity. To use these
affirmations, speak the words out loud, slowly and deliberately. If needed,
substitute words to make the affirmations more your own. As you speak these
words, feel them go out into the universe and come alive!
I am surrounded
by divine substance and this divine substance now manifests for me in rich
appropriate form.
God is my
supply and my unlimited abundance of everything now.
Divine love
is now working through me to adjust all the details of my live. Love transforms
my life now.
I now release
and am released from everything and everybody that are no longer part of
the divine plan for my life. Everything and everybody that are no longer
part of the divine plan for my life now release me.
