About Unity

Unity Center of Cedar Rapids is a dynamic, loving congregation of approximately 300 members that welcomes people of all faiths and backgrounds. It is a center of positive, practical Christianity. Our mission is to provide spiritual awareness and share the wonder and joy of God’s love. We offer a 10 a.m. Sunday service with  Youth Education   for ages 4-18. A special room is available for families with infants and toddlers to observe the service.  

         Unity Movement

UnityCR is part of the worldwide Unity movement, which was started in 1889 in Kansas City, Missouri, by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. www.unityonline.org is an excellent resource to learn more about Unity, our beliefs , and our  history. 

         Humble Beginnings

Just as the Unity movement started with small prayer circles in living rooms, Unity Center of Cedar Rapids also had humble beginnings. Following a call from Spirit, Goldie Cook Richardson started UnityCR in a southeast Cedar Rapids home with six people in attendance at the first meeting. Our founder’s zeal and inspiration continues today at our current center, 3791 Blairs Ferry Road NE, Cedar Rapids. Our facility was built in 1982 and a beautiful addition was completed in 2006.        

          Rich Spirit

UnityCR has a very rich history. We are proud of that history and the legacy that has been left to us by all those who have gone before. We see the way Spirit has worked thorough us all to heighten our spiritual awareness and bring about healing, prosperity, and harmonious relationships. We are grateful for the many people who have come in contact with Unity over the years and have been set free by the knowledge of their own divine power from within. The best testimonial that can be given for our existence is the exclamation, "I am so glad that I found you!" It’s a phrase we have heard often.

Our spiritual community is a mighty magnet, attracting people who are ready for a message of Truth. We invite you to join us for our 10 a.m. Sunday service, our 6 p.m. Wednesday meditation service, our  classes, and workshops.
