Dear Friends of Unity Center of Cedar Rapids,
I trust that by the time this newsletter is in your hands that the last blizzard of the winter is but a
distant memory for you! There are a few of us who have truly enjoyed this past winter and the
abundance of beautiful white stuff. Still, there are those among us who have been visualizing
SPRING for several weeks now!
Truly, spring is on its way to us and we welcome this season with delight. March is a particularly
blessed month because we commemorate the events of Holy Week, culminating in Easter. As is
our tradition, we will be offering a special service on Good Friday at 7 p.m.
This Lenten season, I have borrowed this acronym from my friend and ministerial classmate,
Rev. Erin McCabe—Live and Embody a New Thought. In Unity, we naturally see the historical
events that we now call Holy Week through our metaphysical filters. The Bible stories are rich
with metaphysical meaning and of course, apply in a very practical way to our life situations
today. Join us for Sunday Services in March to glean personal meaning for yourself from this
ancient story. I also encourage you to pick up our co-founder Charles Fillmore’s book, “Keep a
True Lent.” The Lenten daily writings provide meaningful fodder for personal meditation.
Our current class, Spiritual Economics, will wrap up in mid-March. The group, as usual, has
been dynamic, stimulating and fun to explore Truth with! We’re kicking around the idea of
covering “The I of the Storm” next. Stay tuned for news on that!
Also in March, a decision that is vital to the future of our ministry will be made. The ministerial
search team has been diligently moving through the process of selecting our next long-term
minister. This process will culminate with the Board of Trustees in the month of March.
Together, we continue to hold all folks involved in our prayers of Divine Love, Wisdom and
gratitude.
In the meantime, I continue to focus on the business at hand—serving this congregation in the
now moment—and blessing each of you with abundance and well-being in Mind, Body and
Spirit.
–Rev. Brenda
